24 cases under NDPS Act registered across district, 109 against COVID-19 lockdown violators

POONCH: Poonch Police in the year 2020 achieved success on its Anti terror front as well as against people involved in smuggling of narcotics with ten hideouts have been busted during the year 2020 and twenty four cases have been registered under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in the district besides one hundred and nine cases against people involved in violation of lockdown imposed in wake of Corona Virus pandemic.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Ramesh Angral issued a statement sharing details of success for police during the year 2020 that ended two days ago.
SSP said that Poonch police team headed by territorial supervisory officers including Additional SP Khalid Amin, Deputy SP Headquarters Poonch, Deputy SP PC (Operations), SDPO Mendhar, Deputy SP DAR, Deputy SP Surankote and Deputy SP Chakan Da Bagh and all the SHOs and Police Post Incharges worked on different fronts of policing with imposition of restrictions under COVID19 lockdown and action on anti militancy front were prime.
He informed that a total of ten militant hideouts have been busted during joint operations by police, army and other security forces in 2020 with a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from these and this include 13 rifles of AK series, 31 Magazines of AK rifles, 1595 bullets of AK rifles, 12 Pistols, 16 Pistol Magazines, 190 Pistol rounds, 01 PKM gun, 25 Hand Grenades, 03 Wireless Sets, 02 Binoculars, 02 AGL grenades, 05 UBGL grenades, 01 UBGL gun, 500 grams of RDX and 06 Chinese Grenades.
SSP said that a major anti militancy operation was carried out by police and army at Chatapani on Mughal Road on 13 December in which two Pakistani militants were eliminated whereas one militant associate was arrested from the spot whereas six militant associates have been arrested in total in previous year.
He also said that in the last week of December last year, a militancy module have been busted in Mendhar wherein three militant associates have been arrested with eight grenades, two pistols and ammunition with these associates were planning to attack some religious places in the area.
SSP also said that police also carried out stern action over the menace of smuggling of narcotics and drugs with twenty eight person have been arrested in twenty four cases and 12.472 KGs of Heroine, 60.150 KGs of poppy straw, 4 KGs of poppy follower, 334 Grams of Charas and 430 Tramadol capsules have been recovered from their possession.
Similarly, police also worked tirelessly in implementation of COVID19 lockdown with 107 FIRs have been registered across the district against 193 violators with 152 vehicles and 29 shops were seized whereas fine to the tune of 2,25,610 rupees have been realised from 988 violators who have been fined.
SSP also discussed about dozens of PCPG meetings organised across the district besides numerous sports events.
Terming maintenance of law and order in the district as a prime priority of police, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said that stern action has been taken against seven person for anti national and communal remarks on social media platforms which were having potentially to disturb law and order but their act was promptly followed and cognisance action was taken.
