Wrestling Championship gets underway

JAMMU: Under the banner of Wrestling Association of J&K, the J&K UT Junior and Sub-junior (Cadet) Championship got underway at Indoor Hall of University of Jammu, here on Saturday.
The two-day event was declared open by President of J&K Olympic Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma, who interacted with the wrestlers from different districts.
Earlier, General Secretary of the Association, Ajay Vaid, Dheeraj Sharma and Raju Sharma welcomed received the Chief Guest and informed him about the event.
Among other guests present were Rajan Sharma (General Secretary, J&K Boxing Association), Kuldeep Handoo (Chief Wushu Coach of India), Sharat Chander Singh (General Secretary, J&K Athletics Association), Kuljeet Singh Jamwal (President J&K Basketball Association) and Sahil Sharma.
Around 160 wrestlers have reported for the competition which is being officiated by the technical panel including Om Parkash Sharma, Krishan Singh, Beniya Amin, Roshan Sharma and Ajay Bharti.
Meanwhile, in Sub-Junior 45 kg weight category, Mohd Khalil and Rahul Kumar have qualified for the final. Similarly, in 48 kg category, Sahil Kumar and Ganesh Singh also qualified for the finals.
In the Sub-Junior 51 kg weight category, Amandeep and Surya Uday Singh and 55 Kg weight category, Bagh Hussain and Rahul Singh qualified for finals. In Sub-Junior 65 kg weight category, Sunil Singh and Shabir Ahmed and 71 kg weight category, Gafoor Ahmed and Udhay Singh reached in finals.
