4 cops injured in stone-pelting by drug addicts, 1 held

RAMBAN: A notorious woman drug peddler was apprehended at Maitra by Ramban Police, however 4 cops got injured in stone-pelting by drug addicts.
As per the details, acting on reliable input about presence of some drug-peddlers near Lower Maitra children Park, a police party headed by Insp Pardeep Sharma, SHO Police Station Ramban raided the park. On noticing police, a woman started running away from police. A lady police party led by PSI Mamta Kumari and other constables got hold off her and during her search approximately 300 gm Charas like substance was recovered from her possession. The woman was identified herself as Sakina Begum, widow of Lt Ab Majid Sheikh, resident of Lower Maitra. She was into drugs business since long and many locals had complained against presence of drug addicts in the area. On this, a case FIR No. 56/2021 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act was registered and investigation started. At the same time, another reliable input was received about presence of some drug addicts/dealers in Lower Maitra area. Acting swiftly, a party led by SHO Ramban went to Shiekh Mohalla. On seeing police, a heavy stone-pelting started in Shiekh Mohalla, in which Rahul Singh SPO got severely injured while PSI Vinod Saini, PSI Mamta Kumari and Sgct Parshotam also sustained injuries. A Police party led by Insp Pardeep Sharma SHO Ramban and DySP Hqrs successfully apprehended a stone-pelter, who was identified as Jaffar, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Lower Maitra while he was pelting stones along with 10 to 15 other unknown persons. Identification of other stone-pelters is being ascertained. In this connection a case vide FIR No 57/2021 was registered under Sections 307, 332, 336, 147,34 of IPC at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
