Woman among three held for illicit distillation; Lahan, illicit liquor seized


KATHUA/UDHAMPUR: Police on Monday nabbed three persons including a woman and recovered illicit liquor and Lahan from their possession.
As per details, it was learnt that one Sakki, son of Lt Gulabu, resident of Persu Chakk was doing trade of illicit liquor at Gatarua village, Tehsil Marheen. Acting on information, a joint team of Police Station Rajbagh along with team of Police Post Marheen led by Insp Bhopinder Singh SHO Rajbagh conducted a raid and apprehended aforesaid person. During checking, approximately 10 lts Desi liquor was recovered which was purportedly kept to be sold in the adjoining area among general public to gain illegitimate profit. The recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized and accused was arrested. FIR No 98/2021 under section 48(A) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Rajbagh
Meanwhile, based on specific information regarding manufacturing of illicit liquor, police team of Police Station Basantgarh headed by Insp Pushpinder Singh SHO Basantgarh under supervision of Dr Bhishm Dubey SDPO Ramnagar conducted raids at two different locations, one in house of Ved Parkash, son of Sabhunath, resident of Balota and another in house of Ruma Devi, wife of Jagdish Kumar, resident of Balota Upparala; and succeeded in recovering 5 lts (2+3 lts) illict Desi liquor and around 45 lts (20+25 lts) Lahan from both the locations. The recovered liquor was seized while Lahan was destroyed on the spot. FIR No. 17/2021 under section 48(E) excise Act was registered at Police Station Basantgarh against accused and further investigation is underway.
