JAMMU: The remote district of Doda bagged the overall third place in the just concluded 23rd J&K Taekwondo Championship under the banner of J&K Taekwondo Association, here.
“Doda boys and girls excelled with 35 medals, including eight gold and 11 silver. This time the team was well prepared, especially in the lower age groups and emerged overall third in the medal tally after talented Jammu district,” said Secretary of District Doda Taekwondo Association (DDTA), Burhan Ud Din Khan.
The district team was led by Yasir Jamil and Anjum Ara as coaches while Arslan Ahmed was manager.
The medal winners from the district patted by advocate Sheeraz Alam and Adil Sufi (CEO of Fact Fly) and complimented by Atul Pangotra (international player and coach).
Earlier, around 400 athletes representing 16 districts took part in this three-day competition which held using the advance PSS scoring system to bring in transparency and accuracy in judgments.
Medal Winners: Gold: Ehsan Sufi, Yameen Jamil, Zoha Konian, Kaynat Feroz Butt, Zikra Fatima, Misbah Fatima, Akshamala Devi, Ibrahim Malik. Silver: Samrat Singh, Kashif Iqbal, Soha Sehar Tak, Momin Malik, Babar Mujahid, Krishma Devi, Heena Malik and Tayab Haza. Bronze: Saba Malik, Binu Kumar, Sahil Kotwal, Tahir Mushtaq Zargar, Sulfikar Ali, Rusheeka Tahir, Riksha Tahir, Laviza Jaan, Abbas Ali, Ahmed Tahaan, Reyan Majid, Mohd Asrar and Asad Khan.
