Widespread protests witnessed against web-series ‘Tandav’ in Jammu

JAMMU: A number of social and political organisations held protest demonstrations against producer and director of web-series ‘Tandav’ in Jammu on Wednesday. Expressing resentment against producers of web-series for insulting Hindu Gods, they demanded immediate ban on the web-series.
A number of activists of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DFSS) led by its President Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally against web-series ‘Tandav’ and demanded stern action against its makers besides registration of a case under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
The protesters raised slogans against the director Ali Abbas, Amazon prime content head Aparna Purohit and actors of web-series and torched their posters. “Every time religious sentiments of Hindus are hurt by Bollywood. It shows that Hinduism is mocked just for making money. Tandav web-series should be taken off from OTT platform,” Ashok Gupta said.
Others present on the occasion included Abhishek, Bantu, Ashish, Naresh, Kalu, Nanku, Chema and Vinay.
Meanwhile, activists of Dogra Youth also staged a protest against makers of web-series ‘Tandav’ for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Hindu community and demanded banning the same. The protest was led by Bhanu Partap Singh Goria along with others under supervision of Partap Singh Jamwal (political activist). Burning effigies of actors and Director of web-series, they demanded a ban on the web-series.
Speaking on the occasion, Partap Singh Jamwal said that it has become a habit of filmmakers to insult Hindu Gods and Goddesses. “Those making such films and web-series are taking saints and Hindus too lightly. They have to be reminded that saints and people will now not tolerate such acts,” he added. Demanding stern action against the actors, director and producer of web-series, Bhanu appealed to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar to ban web-series, alleging that it hurt religious sentiments.
Others present during the protest included Arun Mehra, Akash Meenia, Vishal Gupta, Sundan Sharma, Sumit Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Lakshay Kumar and Nikhil Sharma.
Similar protest was held by activists of Bajrang Dal in Jammu, demanding ban on the web-series.
