JAMMU: Vishal Sharma of district Kathua and Sharuti Sharma, a trainee of SMVDSB Shooting Range, Katra excelled with their impressive show in 10 meters Air Rifle event of the men and women categories respectively in the five-day 10th J&K UT Shooting Championship which concluded today with well attended valedictory function at General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club, Bari Brahmana. Both these shooters remained top scorers of the championship. While Vishal secured 398, Sharuti earned 389 out of 400.In the closing function, Advisor to the LG, Baseer Ahmed Khan was the Chief Guest, who along with Guest of Honour, Dr. SD Singh Jamwal and Special Guest, president J&K Olympic Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma gave away thee prizes to those winners of different events. Former Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak presided over the function.Speaking to the gathering, Baseer Ahmed Khan lauded the efforts of organizers, J&K Rifle Association (JKRA) for holding the event in a professional manner. He assured JKRA all possible help and cooperation in further popularizing the Shooting sport among the Youth of J&K.He said that successful completion of events like these will go a long way in bringing out one of the best shooting clubs in the country from J&K.Gulchain Singh Charak briefed about the host General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club and its objective for the promotion and development of games in general and Shooting in particular in the Union Territory.
