STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Vice Chancellor (VC), Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), Prof. J.P. Sharma along with the concerned statutory officers, visited Division(s) of Agricultural Economics & ABM and Agricultural Engineering to have one-to-one interaction with faculty members and staff; and to have first hand appraisal of the on-going activities during ‘Talk at Lawn’ programme.‘Talk at Lawn’ is a unique programme started by Prof Sharma where direct face to face interaction is made between the university administration and staff members.Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sharma highlighted the importance of economics, marketing, food processing and farm engineering in the present era.He urged the scientists of Division of Agricultural Engineering to apply for the patents of their finished products and technology.He suggested them to modernise university farm by re-developing layout and designing of the farm. He also suggested completion of Testing Centre of Agricultural Engineering as early as possible.Prof. Sharma advised scientists of Division of AEABM to study Impact Assessment of major technologies of the university to find out the benefit of the said technologies to the farmers.He also urged them to conduct research on impact of per unit application of fertilizers and nutrients on productivity of crops.Prof. Sharma asserted that the staff/ security persons engaged on contractual basis at university be given recognized positions and their emoluments may be revised keeping in view the emoluments of different universities after approval of the competent authority.Prof. Sharma assured his full support to both the Divisions on all fronts in future.During the visit, Prof. Sharma also inaugurated Smart Conference Hall of the Division of Agricultural Economics and ABM.Dr. Jag Paul Sharma, Registrar and Director Research exhorted the scientists to identify the technologies having potential to cater the needs of farmers.Prof. Bikram Singh, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture appreciated the ‘Talk at Lawn’ initiative of the Vice Chancellor for getting feedback from the ground level.Earlier, Prof. Jyoti Kachroo, Head, Division of Agricultural Economics and ABM welcomed the Vice Chancellor and apprised him about the developmental, academic and research programmes of the Division.Dr. Sushil Sharma, Prof. & Head, Division of Agricultural Engineering apprised Vice Chancellor about development, research and academic works of the division.The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by Dr. Jag Paul Sharma, Registrar and Director Research, Rajesh Talwar, Comptroller and Director Planning & Monitoring; Dr. Bikram Singh, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Er. R. P. Gupta, Estates Officer and Dr. Sushmita Dadhich, Coordinator of the programme.
