At the time of outbreak of COVID-19, there were chances to control it at first stage by taking all necessary precautions religiously like proper hygiene, social distancing, avoiding physical contact and going out with taking proper safety measures, but it spread causing loss of precious lives and creating a feeling of panic & despair among people. People get confused what to do & what not to do. The symptoms of COVID were not so different, as all these indications can also be witnessed in normal ailments or infections, which are easily curable. But during second wave of the pandemic, things like monitoring oxygen level every now and then, made people crazy, thereby leading them to stress and many other mental health related ailments. We are a populous country and that too with all types of heterogeneities. No doubt, controlling this malice of corona for such a big population is really an uphill task. In the second wave, even the mutants are widespread, with number of positive cases touching new scales. Everyone including general masses and those at the helm of affairs in administration are bit confused, as despite taking all preventive measures, the infection is witnessing a surge with every passing day and innumerable people losing their lives to the pandemic. No doubt initiation of vaccination drive across the nation has proved as a silver lining in the dark cloud but there is need for proper implementation of the same on ground level, so that none is left unvaccinated. Scientists along with other concerned could have been taken into confidence for charting out a proper planning besides establishing adequate medical facilities for effective vaccination programmes, in consultation with States and UTs administrations. Further, overcrowding, festival congregations, election campaigning etc should be banned till the country comes in a stable position failing which it is sure that none with remain unaffected of virus mildly or otherwise sooner or later. In the present crises due to spread of COVID-19, lack of oxygen in most of hospitals both govt & private sectors, has resulted in innumerable deaths, wrecking havoc in the country. A common man is running from pillar to post get oxygen from industries in far flung areas. Proper and adequate transportation of such vital gas in emergency has become a great problem and many are suffering for want of oxygen.Further, due to increasing number of deaths, it has become hard for holding proper cremation of deceased at cremation grounds, as the spots are also witnessing heavy rush with very less sources and manpower. In present hour, there is a need to address problems at all levels. People should follow all precautions and advisories, as issued by the administration and Government from time to time, to contain infection. There is a need to inculcate sense of responsibility, leading disciplined life, humanity, social harmony, commitment and spirit towards social service among people. Govt should come up with clear policies, rules, massive awareness campaigns to guide and regulate individuals, besides improving health infrastructure by way of prioritisation, planning and execution. Moreover, social distancing, sanitisation, use of face-masks etc should be made a permanent feature till malice of virus is completely contained. Such situations should be declared as national emergencies. In such conditions, religious gatherings, even electoral congregations should be avoided and elections be suspended for sometimes and constitutional provisions be applied to defer elections, as we cannot lose precious lives of citizens for political gambling. The human capacity for survival and renewal is awesome. There is heroic resilience in the human spirit which enables it to rise above pain and anguish and loss against all odds and turn tragedy into triumph. At the same time, slowly but surely, the dimension of pandemic in India is getting clearer for one and all across the world. Many countries are sending aid, which is a testimony of India’s tremendous goodwill and engagement with world. Government should take opinion seriously and implement programme immediately, so that virus is contained. The need of the hour is that all political parties should come together, cooperate with Govt at this critical hour to fight the battle against virus for survival of mankind.Lastly, we should learn a lesson from second wave of COVID-19 virus to remain prepared in advance, in case we have to face 3rd wave unfortunately and any subsequent diffusing waves along with other repercussions related to it. We pray to God to end virus as soon as possible, for saving the mankind and should observe all necessary precautions to combat contagious COVID-19 infection.
