Udhampur Municipality faces public wrath, leaves anti-encroachment drive midway



UDHAMPUR: A team of Udhampur municipality faced wrath of shopkeepers following which they left the anti- encroachment drive midway.
Details revealed that a team of Municipal Committee Udhampur (MCU) under the supervision of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Municipality Udhampur reached Mukharjee Bazaar to demark the limits of shopkeepers faced strong wrath as they forced to leave ongoing anti encroachment drive in midway. Problems erupted when municipal officials started drawing demarcation outside shutters of shops, shopkeepers opposed the move. They said as they are already reeling under immense business crises due to ongoing COVID-19 for the last one year and now administration instead of supporting bent on harassing shopkeepers one for other reason. However, sensing the trouble, municipality squad left drive in midway.
Later a deputation of Beopar Mandal, Swarnakar Sang and Chamber of commerce met President Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta and CEO Municipality Udhampur and raised their strong objections against the local administration. They warned administration not to test the patience of shopkeepers and don’t force them to come on the road in big way. President Municipality assured to take up the issue with district administration to drive out some viable solution.
