JAMMU: Expressing shock over increased casualty rate in Jammu despite less number of COVID positive cases, as compared to Kashmir Valley, Convenor, United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan asked Government to initiate an enquiry into the matter to ascertain whether it is due to non-availability of proper infrastructure or shortage of expert doctors and health employees to tackle the situation in Jammu Hospitals.
Welcoming Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s recent visit to Jammu hospitals, Mahajan urged LG to pay a surprise visit to Jammu hospitals without knowledge of any health employees to check ground reality. “Whenever Lt Governor Manoj Sinha paid visits to hospitals, the administration was always in forefront to show red carpet and hide mismanagement. As per social media reports, many COVID-19 patients are sitting with oxygen cylinders in hospital premises with their family members, as they are unable to get ICU beds which clearly shows lack of proper infrastructure in Jammu hospitals,” he asserted. Mahajan further suggested the government to immediately invite a team of expert doctors and technical team from prestigious hospitals across the nation to ascertain causes of higher mortality rates in Jammu hospitals besides suggesting urgent improvements to save precious lives.
