Srinagar: Two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district on Wednesday, police said.Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Shalgul forests in Srigufwara area of the district following information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.He said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire on the security forces. The official said two terrorists have been killed so far in the operation.The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists was being ascertained, he added.“In case any family claims the killed terrorists to be their kith or kin, they can come forward for their identification at PCR Kashmir”, a police spokesperson said.Arms and ammunition including 02 AK rifles and other incriminating materials were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.In this connection police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation has been initiated. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared off of all the explosive materials, if any.
