JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday solved two hit and run cases by arresting two accused involved in commission of crime.As per details, on January 19, 2021, an information was received through reliable source that a pedestrian namely Babu Ram, son of Munsi Ram, resident of Ram Nagar colony Akhnoor was hit by an unknown load carrier, driven by an unknown driver in a rash and negligent manner at about 18:30 hrs at Palwan camp. In this regard, a case vide FIR No 16/2021 under Sections 279 & 337 of IPC was registered at Akhnoor Police Station. The victim was shifted to SDH Akhnoor from where he was shifted to GMC Jammu but he succumbed to injuries. After postmortem of the deceased, the body was handed over to legal heirs and offence under section 304 A IPC was added in case.A special team was constituted headed by SHO Akhnoor Insp Ravi Parihar and under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial. During the course of investigation, CCTV camera footage of 10 locations were analyzed. Through questioning from shopkeepers of surrounding shops and local residents were made. Assistance of Tata mobile and Load carrier union was also sought. After hectic efforts, the accused driver namely Davinder Kumar, son of Nand Lal, resident of Khadwani (Pangairi) Teh Akhnoor was identified and subsequently arrested, who also confessed his involvement in the accident. The Tata mobile bearing registration number JK02AH-3196, which was involved in instant case, was also recovered and seized. The overall operation was carried out under the guidance of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.At Srinagar, on December 17, 2020, Police Station Shergarhi received information that an unknown Santro Vehicle hit a person near Solina, who has been shifted to SMHS hospital in critical condition. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 78/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation into the matter was initiated. The injured person later succumbed to his injuries. During course of investigation, CCTV footage was obtained and analysed after which Police found involvement of a suspicious white colour Santro vehicle with Delhi based registration number. Accordingly, search for the vehicle started and wide coverage was also given on all media platforms. With the aid of technical evidences, human inputs and strenuous efforts, the investigating team zeroed in an accused identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Assadullah, resident of Hardashoora at present Faizan Colony Nayak Bagh, Nowgam. On questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in the crime. The accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remained under custody. Besides, the vehicle used in commission of the crime has also been seized.
