JAMMU: Expressing serious concern over higher mortality rate in Jammu region, Convenor, United Democratic Alliance, Rajiv Mahajan urged Lt Government, Manoj Sinha to transfer senior and experienced doctors from far-flung areas of Jammu division to major Hospitals for providing proper treatment to lower death rate in Jammu.
“We demand immediate transfer of senior doctors to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, Chest Disease (CD), Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, where COVID-19 patients are suffering due to non-availability of senior doctors,” Mahajan said in a statement issued on Saturday.
“Senior and experienced government doctors are at far-flung areas in Jammu division and families of COVID patients in GMC Jammu are suffering for want of reliable medical advice. For providing adequate medical consultation on COVID, the government should be using such senior doctors for public facilities. It could provide relief to hundreds of patients,” said Rajiv Mahajan.
“Why can’t J&K government ensure a 24×7 helpline of senior doctors in GMC Jammu where number of deaths is increasing day by day,” asked Mahajan, adding that with posting of senior doctors, people would not face hardships during treatment at GMC Jammu and other COVID Hospitals.
