STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu organised a three-day online workshop on the theme -Be with Yoga, Be at Home from 19th to 21st June, 2021.The workshop was held under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari, and aimed to make the students aware about the importance and benefits of yoga in boosting the overall quality of life.The Resource person for the first day of the workshop, Sanjeev Tyagi, Founder and Director Everest Yoga Institute and Everest Sports Academy, Ludhiana conducted two yoga sessions with his team members- Kritika and Priya and demonstrated various yoga exercises. Dr. Roopali Slathia, Physical Director conducted the proceedings and also presented the vote of thanks.On day second, the event -Favourite Yoga Asana was organised for students wherein 62 students participated. The event was judged by Prof. Eisha Gohil, HoD Psychology and Dr. Roopali Slathia, Physical Director. Anchal Basan, Riya Choudhary, Jasmeen Kour and Minakshi Devi got first, second, third and fourth positions respectively.The last day of the workshop started with the live session by resource person Shruti Dhiman, Faculty of the Art of Living. She explained the importance of yoga in controlling mind, body and soul. She demonstrated and practiced various eye and spine exercises, asanas and pranayamas. In her virtual address, Dr. Sangita Nagari Principal, Govt.PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar applauded the efforts of organizers of the workshop and said that conducting such workshops helps the students to reduce stress levels, maintain mental hygiene and rejuvenate the body and mind. The three day’s Yoga workshop was ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Mala Bhasin. The workshop was also attended by Prof. Sujata Salthia. Prof. Renu Sehgel, Prof. Neetu Raina, Prof. Manika Hans, Prof. Sagandha Mahajan and. Prof. Mohini Jamwal.
