Five bodies recovered across Jammu & Kashmir

JAMMU: Five bodies including that of a woman were found from separate places across the state, prompting police to start investigations.
Two bodies were fished out at different areas from Ranbir Canal.
As per police sources, some locals noticed a body floating in the canal near Purkhoo area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kanachak Police Station. On getting information, police reached the spot and with the help of locals fished out the body. The deceased has been identified as Pappu Ram alias Bawa, son of Ballu Ram, resident of Purkhoo.
Meanwhile, another body of a youth identified as Mohit Verma (22), son of Tara Chand, resident of Kishanpur Manwal, at present was staying in Mishriwala was also recovered near Purkhoo, falling under the jurisdiction of Kanachak Police Station.
“The recovered bodies have been shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for postmortem,” informed SI Rakesh Kumar from Police Station Kanachak. Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at police station Kanachak and investigation started.
Earlier, the water in the Ranbir Canal was stopped from Akhnoor by police to conduct a search for a missing man whose report was lodged with General Bus Stand Police Station Jammu by family members on 2nd June, 2015. The missing man was identified as Inderjeet Singh, 35, son of late Lal Singh, resident of Purkhoo, whose body is yet to be traced.
Meanwhile, a body of woman identified as Kunzes Dolma, a resident of Chonglamsar was found from the Indus River bank at Kharu village of Leh.
According to police, the woman had gone missing on 26th May and remained untraced despite all efforts by police.
In another case, a police party recovered body of Abdul Majeed Padd from Bandi Bala forests in Chandoosa area of Baramulla District.
“Another victim, identified as Tahir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Kangan, whose body was found from Behama in Ganderbal District,” the police spokesman said.
Police has registered separate cases in connection with the recovery of the bodies and started investigations, the spokesman said.
