Three arrested for smuggling liquor from Punjab into J&K, 60 bottles recovered



KATHUA: Lakhanpur police on Monday arrested three persons who attempted to smuggle Punjab based liquor into Jammu and Kashmir UT amid lockdown.
As per the details, three persons were arrested by a team from Police Station Lakhanpur during special Naka checking, led by PSI Swaran Singh and PSI Mohd Yousuf, for transporting liquor in Baleno car (JK02CD-8563) amid the lockdown.
The accused have been identified as Ankush Dutta, son of Vinod Dutta, resident of Bakshi Nagar Jammu (driver of car); Surjeet Kumar, son of Bishan Dass, resident of Bamial Tehsil and District Pathankot and Sumeet Bali, son of Yashpal Bali, resident of Bakshi Nagar Jammu. On physical checking of the car, four boxes 0f Imperial Blue and 1 box of Royal Challange Punjab Excise Whisky (each box containing 12 bottles, making a total of 60 bottles) have been recovered. The trio has been arrested and a case vide FIR 65/2021 under section 50 of Excise Act and 188/269/270 of IPC was registered against them at Police Station Lakhanpur.
