Theft case solved, accused arrested; stolen property worth lakhs recovered

SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday solved a theft case and arrested accused persons involved in the crime. Stolen property worth lakhs were also recovered from them.
As per details, on December 24, 2020, Police Post Bemina received a written complaint from one Danish Farooq of Hamdania Colony Bemina Srinagar, proprietor of a Copper shop in Zehra Complex situated at Hamdania Colony Bemina, stating that during intervening night of December 23-24, 2020, some unknown thieves broke shutter of shop and stole copper utensils worth lakhs.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 270/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, police inspected scene of occurrence & completed all legal formalities including collection of CCTV footage from aforesaid shop and adjacent areas. With help of technical information and analysis of CCTV footage some suspects were identified. On the basis of technical information, one suspect was apprehended along with other four accomplices. On their disclosure, stolen copper utensils worth lakhs were recovered from Lasjan area.
Notably, in last 20 days, Sub-division West Srinagar have solved second theft case and recovered stolen property worth 19 lakhs.
Pertinent to mention that most of the area is under CCTV surveillance. Local Market Associations cooperated in installing CCTVs cameras at their business units as requested during various Police Public meetings held by the Subdivision. Consequently, theft cases in area declined and instilled a sense of security among traders. Srinagar Police maintained that the cooperation of public is must to curb social evils.
