BARAMULLA: Based on specific input that there will be some movement of terrorists/OGWs on Baramulla-Handwara highway, a joint Naka comprising of Police and army was established near Jehlum Stadium under jurisdiction of Police Station Baramulla. During Naka, a Maruti Alto car (JK05G 1675) which was moving from Baramulla towards Handwara was intercepted and during frisking, cash amounting to Rs 13,000 was recovered from the person.
On search of car, three grenades were recovered which were hidden in a bag full of charcoal. The accused was identified as Asif Gull, son of Ghulam Mohd Alwaie. He further revealed that he was working as OGW for TRF, which is an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. He was in contact with a local terrorist Abid presently at PoK. In this regard, a case vide FIR no 218/2020 was registered in Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been taken up.
