SAMBA: Police on Thursday arrested a Tantrik for befooling and cheating people and gold ornaments worth lakhs were recovered from his possession.
As per details, on October 22, 2020, a written complaint was received at Police Station Vijaypur by two women, residents of Thalori Brahmana, Vijaypur regarding loot of their golden ornaments along with cash by a person namely Chander Kumar alias Ranvir Takyal, son of Bishamber Dass, resident of Bari Brahmana who claimed to be a Trantik and pretend to cure illness. The said Tantric took gold ornaments and cash from them in name of offerings to Kuldevta (God) and absconded thereafter. Acting over the complaint, a case vide FIR No. 184/2020 under Section 420 of IPC was registered at police station Vijaypur and investigation started. A party from police station Vijaypur immediately swung into action and conducted multiple raids at suspected locations and succeeded in apprehending accused person (Tantrik) from Main Bazar Bari Brahmana.
On disclosure of accused, looted-booty/ ornaments were recovered from his house at Bari Brahmana including Golden Chain Gents 7.5 gm; Golden Finger Ring 3.1 gm; Golden Necklace 15.1 gm; Gents Ring 2.95 gm; Gent Ring 2.83 gm; Ring 3.09 gm; Mangal Sutra 6.770 gm and Jhumke 6.170 gm.
Later during further interrogation, the accused disclosed about some more golden ornaments which were looted by him from different persons by cheating them and deposited in Manapuram Finance Ltd. Trikuta Nagar, Jammu in name of Sunny Kumar, son of Roop Lal, resident of Nai Basti, Jammu for getting loan. The same were also recovered and seized including three golden rings weighing 7.8 gm, one Golden Ring 2.8 gm, two Golden Ear Rings 4.00 gm. All recovered ornaments were seized under law for further action and investigation is under progress.
