JA,MU: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports in coordination with NSS organized State Level Youth Parliament Festival 2021 on virtual mode.
In this exercise, 44 participants hailing from Youth Clubs & Mahila Mandal affiliated with NYKS and NSS from 20 Districts namely Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch , Udhampur, Reasi, Kishtwar, Ramban, Doda, Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara of J&K and two districts of Ladakh namely Leh and Kargil were participated. The program was inaugurated by Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha.
While addressing the participants through virtual mode, the MP stated that idea behind the organizing of District/ State and National level Youth Parliament Festival was of our beloved Prime Minster Narinder Modi. He said that the Prime Minister shared the idea of youth becoming the voice of India in his Mann ki Baat address of 31st December, 2017, he desired to organize District Youth Parliament at the time of the inaugural of the 22nd National Youth Festival on 12th January 2018. There after the first National Youth Festival was organized in January -February 2019. Prime Minister addressed the youth and also gave away the prizes.
Manhas appreciated the organizer and congratulated Bikram Singh Gill, State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan J&K and Ladakh and his team for organizing the State Youth Parliament. Earlier, Bikram Singh Gill State Director, J&K and Ladakh welcomed Shamsher Singh and jury members and the participants of the programme. Gill informed that District Level Youth Parliament was organized at Jammu, Srinagar and Udhampur on 28th and 29th December, 2020 respectively. He said that there are five topics selected during State Youth Parliament which were Climate Change is a bigger threat than Covid 19.
Gill also informed that the 1st and 2nd winner of the District level are participating in State Youth Parliament and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners at state level will participate in National Youth Parliament at Central Hall , Sansad Bhavan, New Delhi on 12th and 13th January 2021. Gill stated that 3 best speakers at the National level will be awarded Rs. 2 Lakh, Rs.1.50 Lakh and Rs.1 Lakh respectively.
Seven Jury members namely Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, DDC Member and Ex MLA, Dr. Musavir Ahmed (KAS) NSS Programme Coordinator, Kashmir University, Srinagar, Dr. Hema Gandotra Sr. Assistant Prof (Department of Sociology), Jammu University, Shalini Rana Assistant Prof & HOD (English) Govt. College of Education Jammu, Reecha Gupta (Artist), Ram Paul Dogra, senior journalist and social activist, Dr Ghulam Jeelani Zargar Srinagar.
The jury adjudged Sheikh Yamina, from Srinagar as winner Srishti Koul, Jammu at Second rank and Nayeeda Choudhary, Samba at third rank. Jury members thanked NYKS efforts and appreciated the response of all youth in this online session.
