Spankh honours Vijay Attri on World Theatre Day



JAMMU: Celebrating World Theatre Day 2021, Spankh, (Ek Rachnatmak Udaan), an organization committed for culture, heritage and languages of the region, on Saturday honoured Vijay Attri, eminent theatre personality in a function organized at the head office of Spankh, Janipur Colony, here.
Vijay Attri was the Chief Guest while Advocate Meenu Padha, prominent social activist was the Guest of Honour. Vijay Attri complimented Spankh and its team for celebrating World Theatre Day 2021 in a very impressive manner. While interacting with the guests he said that the theatre moment of Jammu has a long history and the theatre personalities like Kavi Rattan, contributed a lot for creating a solid foundation and continued staging mega performances of plays in Jammu. He further said that Some of the established theatre groups in Jammu like Amature Theatre group, Bahurangi, Rangmanch Theatre group, Manoranjan Kala Manch, Natraj Natya Kunj, Balraj Sahni Punjabi Rangmanch, Smooh Theatre group, Nav Durga Kala Manch, Natrang, The Hill Thespian and many more carry forward the theatre moment of Jammu region to its new heights and succeeded to introduce the theatre of Jammu at global level. Advocate Menu Padha said that through the medium of culture in general and theatre in particular the youth can be addressed in an effective way to bring them in the main stream and use their energy in constructive manner. She further shared her experiences as an social activist and told that the issues like child labour and women empowerment are being looked after by using the platform of ‘Masti Ki Pathshala’ where the children from slum are properly looked after and education is being provided.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Shivani Anand, General Secretary Spankh, informed that on the eve of World Theatre day, Spankh decided to honour atleast one theatre legend of the region every year on this day.
During the function an interaction was organized where Vijay Attri interacted and shared his experiences regarding the theatre moment of Jammu region, its achievements and future possibilities.
A paper on life and contribution of vijay attri was presented by Seeta Kumari, final year student of Government Degree college Kunjwani and budding theatre artist. Dr. Rajni Kumari, asst. Prof. Department of Hindi, GDC Billawar, Kathua conducted the proceedings of the programme while Herneet Kaur, Press and Publicity Secretary Spankh presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were Dr. Sheetal Sharma, Asst. Prof. Department of Dogri, GDC R.S Pura, Mandeep Kaur, Amit Jamwal, Vice President Spankh , Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Virender Singh, cashier Spankh, Kushboo Sharma, Dimple and Nisha Kumari.
