JAMMU: Spankh (Ek Rachnatmak Udaan)-an NGO committed for development, preservation and documentation of culture, literature and arts of Jammu & Kashmir, on Sunday celebrated International Women’s Day in the office of SPANKH at Janipur, here.Dr. Rajni Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Government Degree College Billawar, eminent Hindi and Dogri short story writer, poet and scholar presided and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) was the Chief Guest.Shivani Anand, General Secretary Spankh, Nationally renowned Hindi poet, short story writer, casual announcer All India Radio Jammu was also present in the presidium.While delivering her presidential address, Dr. Rajni complimented Spankh (Ek Rachnatmak Udaan) and whole team for establishing an NGO dedicated to culture, heritage and literature of the region. She said that women of present times succeeded to convey the message to the world of her strength, potential, capability and talent to contribute in all fields of life including military and para-military forces, science and technology as well as navy.Dr. Amn complimented on the eve of International Women’s Day and said that now time has changed and women folk of global village have collectively educated of fundamental rights and her contribution towards the construction of healthy society.Now women is not only important for giving birth but also participates in all creativities, major projects related to new inventions and discoveries, he added.He further mentioned that women folk by all means must be respected throughout.Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Shivani Anand informed that it was collectively decided that an organization or society shall be established to work for the betterment of the society and bringing awareness amongst the youth through the medium of literature, culture and various art forms. She further told that the process for registration of Spankh has already been initiated and soon will be completed. She hoped all support and cooperation of Art lovers.In this function Dr. Rajni Kumari presented her short story in Hindi titled -‘Yeh Kaisa Nata’, Seeta Kumari recited poetry of Shivani Anand, titled – ‘Bada Ghar’ & ‘ Aahvaan’, Shivani Anand presented her poetry ‘Talaash’ followed by a healthy discussion.In this session, as females Mandeep Kaur and Sukriti Jasrotia also shared their thoughts about the women folk in this present lifestyle.Harneet Kaur, while reacting to the short story of Dr. Rajni Kumari, said that the short story ‘Yeh Kaisa Nata’ reflects the strong bonding between the elder and younger generation through love and attraction.The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Seeta Kumari, Joint Secretary Spankh and vote of thanks was presented by Harneet Kaur, Press Publicity Secretary, SPANKH.
