JAMMU: The Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), the apex body of Volleyball in India, in a virtual executive committee meeting has nominated Sidharth Daluja, President of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) as the Associate Joint Secretary of VFI. It was announced by Achyuta Samanta, Member Parliament and President of VFI.In an official communication of VFI, the Federation extended congratulations to Sidharth Daluja on being nominated as the Associate Joint Secretary of the Volleyball Federation of India.“Your hard work coupled with rich experience and knowledge in Volleyball will definitely be useful and will be utilized by the Federation,” the communication further read.Earlier, while proposing name of Sidharth Daluja for the post of Associate Joint Secretary, Ramavatar Singh Jakhar, Chief Executive Officer VFI described him as the youngest President among all Volleyball Associations of States/UTs in India, who has always been in forefront for promotion of sports in general and Volleyball in particular. Besides being a sports lover, Sidharth Daluja is a leading industrialist and associated with corporate sector of erstwhile J&K State.Besides volleyball, Sidharth Daluja’s sports track record has been par excellence in cricket and table tennis as well. Presently, he is also the Vice President of Jammu Kashmir Olympic Association.All office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K including Raj Daluja Patron-in-Chief, Kuldip Magotra CEO, Hardip Singh Gill Executive Vice-President, V K Magotra General Secretary, R C Sharma Treasurer, Raj Guru Senior Vice President, Madan Lal Toofan and Abdul Ahad Shah Vice Presidents, Sajjad Hussain, Puran Singh, Mohd Tariq and Amir Bhat Joint Secretaries, Akbar Ali Office Secretary, Krishan Lal Sharma former Divisional Sports Officer and District Secretary Poonch, Nilofar Habib District Secretary Kulgam, Muneer Alam District Secretary Srinagar, Shabir Malik District Secretary Shopian, Muddasar District Secretary Pulwama, Arsullha Habib District Secretary Bandipora, Abdul Majeed President District Baramulla, Manpreet Kour, Veena Kumari, Seema Sharma, Subash Shastri, Suresh Singh and Raman Gupta, Executive Members have hailed decision of VFI and termed it as a positive step towards promotion of sports in general and Volleyball in particular across India and even abroad, with nomination of Sidharth Daluja as the Associate Joint Secretary of VFI.It will not be out of place to mention here that during tenure of Sidharth Daluja as President of VAJK, the Association besides carrying out normal activities has conducted two coaching cum clinic camps for budding volleyball players under 16-year age group in Jammu wherein free boarding/ lodging/ infrastructure facilities were provided by the President. In these camps, international Volleyball players imparted training to budding players of erstwhile J&K State. Apart from this, two Refresher clinics for technical officials for conducting various Volleyball competitions were also held, with one at Jammu and other at Bandipora, Kashmir Division for the first time in the history of Association.To sum up, the VFI has added another feather in VAJK’s cap by giving an opportunity to Sidharth Daluja to serve VFI.
