Shia cleric calls on LG, discusses issues pertaining to community

JAMMU: Prominent Shia cleric and scholar of high repute, Sayed Kalbe Jawed Naqvi was in town at invitation of people. Earlier he had visited Kashmir to understand present state of affairs in respect of Shia community all over the valley. His present visit was meant to know socio-economic and religious affairs and also to know what difficulties are being experienced by people in general and Shia community in particular.
He met several delegations in Jammu and after going into problems, sought appointment with Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. It was a matter of pleasure that on December 15, a delegation led by Sayed Kalbe Jawed Naqvi met Lt Governor at Raj Bhawan.
The issues which Maulana brought before the LG, were purely religious comprising lifting of restrictions from Shia procession in Kashmir particularly from Shia locality of Srinagar and Abi Guzar to Zadibal on 10th of Muharram.
The LG listened to Maulana patiently and assured that as soon as spread of COVID-19 is contained and situation stabilises, all these restrictions would be removed and Shia people of Kashmir. Pertaining to idea of central government to set up a Shia Wakf Board in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, LG stated that the constitution of Shia Wakf Board is on priority list.
