JAMMU: Interesting bouts in senior categories marked the end of three-day J&K UT Judo Championship which was organised by the Judo Association of Jammu and Kashmir under the aegis of J&K Olympic Association (JKOA) and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council (JKSC) at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here on Wednesday.
The event attracted a huge participation of around 500 judokas from different districts in various age groups and weight categories. Divided into three groups of sub-junior, junior and seniors over as many days, efforts were made to minimise the presence of the players at the venue in view of the re-surge of Covid-19 pandemic.
On the concluding day of the competition, senior Manager of the JKSC, Satish Gupta was the chief guest, who in the presence of guests of honour, Shafakat Shafi, Rameshwar Singh and Jugal Kishore presented medals to winners of senior groups.
Vice president of Judo Federation of India (JFI), Vikas Gupta, international players, Shweta Thakur and Bhanu Pratap were special guests.
Prominent among others present were Danish Sharma, Shiv Kumar, Rohit Gupta Varinder Dogra, Rohit sadhotra, Aman Gupta, Naresh Kumar, Ranjodh Singh, Rajesh Sumbariya, Tahir Ali (JKP Judo Coach) and Sahil Sharma. Bouts were officiated by JKSC Coaches, Suraj Bhan Singh, Arshi Nad, Vikas Dogra, Ritika Slathia, Shafkat Shafi, Jugal Kishore and Shakti Gupta.
