RSS observes Dand Prahar Vijay Diwas

JAMMU: Dand Prahar Vijay Diwas is age-old practice to protect one’s dignity and honour. It is celebrated by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) every year on December 16, as it was the day when India won Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. The main objective of celebrating the day as Dand Prahar Vijay Diwas is to celebrate the victory of India against Pakistan besides infusing a sense of determination, motivation and commitment towards nation’s pride & honour among volunteers. To commemorate the day, a number of functions are organized across the nation wherein RSS volunteers demonstrate their unique ‘defence and attack’ techniques using ‘Dand’ (cane/stick) in Shakhas. All the units are instructed to compile report on number of rounds of Dand Prahar that an individual Swayamsevak performs and cumulative count by all Swayamsevaks of each Shakha is compiled. Similar data is obtained from all 41 Prants across the country and later presented in meeting of RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha.
