JAMMU: The Rotaract Club of Jammu City, sponsored by Rotary Club of Jammu City, organised a week-long food donation drive, Project Annapurna, in which they collected unutilized food items from weddings from the caterers and banquet halls and fed the needy and hungry people around Jammu City.
The main idea behind taking the food from the caterers was to avoid the wastage of food and use that food for the needy.
Every day the project started with collecting the unutilized food from the caterers at 5:30 AM, making food packets and distributing the packets to the needy and hungry people.
The Rotaracters were able to help around 200 people everyday where they distributed the food packets to underprivileged people.
In addition to the food donation drive , the Rotaracters also donated winter clothes, blankets and masks to the needy and the less fortunate section of the society keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic and the bone-chilling winters of Jammu. The Rotaracters participated in the project with full zeal and zest and intended upon doing more such projects to help the deprived section of the society.
Rtr. Ojus Masson, President RCJC; Rtr. Chaitley Sharma, Secretary RCJC were pleased to see project Annapurna turning into a success.
