JAMMU: President, Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Romesh Chander Gupta has urged Lt Governor to withdrawal New Land Laws for providing justice to Mahajan and Khatri communities. In a correspondence addressed to the LG, Romesh Chander Gupta said that New Land Laws are totally discriminatory for Mahajan and Khatri communities. “Soon after taking over as LG, Manoj Sinha declared that there would not be biasing and genuine grievances would be listened. The aim of administration would be to take development forward in UT. There won’t be any discrimination against any one. Constitutional powers will be used for the people’s welfare,” he added. He further alleged that Govt hatched a conspiracy against Mahajan (Vaishya Samaj) and Khatri Community under New Land Laws. The order is prejudice and totally against spirit of the constitution, as it does not allow caste based laws and order to favour one and harm others,” he added.Gupta further said that In India, any person residing anywhere in country can purchase and sale land but it is extremely depressing that Mahajans and Khatris of J&K cannot purchase even one Marla of Agriculture land whereas there is no restriction on people belonging to other communities. “It is a matter of strong discrimination that communities have been kept way from the selling and purchasing agriculture land,” he said, urging LG to look into the matter immediately and revoke the order.
