JAMMU: Senior Congress leader and former minister, Mula Ram and DCC President Jammu Rural, Hari Singh Chib have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately resolve the vaccine shortage issue in the J&K UT by procuring adequate stocks of the vaccines at the earliest. They expressed anguish and resentment against the decision of BJP led Government at the Centre for asking States and UTs to procure vaccines for COVID-19 on their own. In a joint statement issued here today, they said that when the whole country is facing dearth of Medicare facilities including that of vaccines there is no justification at all in asking the states and UTs to procure vaccines on their own.
They said since BJP is governing the country it is its prime responsibility to procure corona vaccine and distribute the same as per the respective requirements of states and UTs.
The Congress leaders alleged that this proves beyond doubt that Bharatiya Janata Party is running away from its responsibility.
Mula Ram and Hari Singh castigated the Union Govt as well as the J&K UT administration for shortage of the life saving vaccine here. They said that it is quite unfortunate that after starting vaccination for the people belonging to the age group of 18 to 45 years, there is no vaccine available across this Union Territory today.
Not only this the troubles are further accentuating as the people of this age group are facing extreme difficulty in getting themselves enrolled for vaccination. The senior Congress leaders appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to resolve the vaccine shortage issue by procuring adequate stocks of the vaccines at the earliest. Meanwhile, they have also demanded that the government should provide free of cost ration to the people i.e, at least 10 kg per soul besides providing Rs. 8000 cash assistance to the general public as relief when lakh of people have lost their jobs at this juncture.
They also demanded relief to the people associated with the unorganized sector, traders besides others whose earning during the corona crisis has virtually come down to zero.
