JAMMU: Worst road conditions and poor infrastructure in Purkhoo-camp area along Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch highway depicts sorry state of affairs with developmental activities, said Apni Party Provincial President Women Wing Namrta Sharma.
Namrta was speaking at a meeting of women in Purkhoo-Camp area which is hardly 2 km away from the highway. In this programme over two dozen women joined Apni Party and prominent among them include Anita Devi, Asha Devi, Parshotama Kumari, Pooja Chib, Vimla Kumari, Sunita Devi and others.
“It was surprising to see such backwardness of this locality which is a part of Jammu District. No proper road, roofs half damaged or many still live in kacha homes, no drinking water supply and long unscheduled power cuts has made the lives of this locality worse,” said Namrta while welcoming the newcomers into the party.
Namrta said that the department which has responsibility to give homes under the Govt schemes to the poor people doing nothing.
“Many homes require the benefit of the Govt scheme for the construction of their homes. Their financial conditions of people in Purkhoo Camp area is not such that they can do it without Govt support,” said Namrta.
Namrta said that the women have to travel half a kms to fetch drinking water as their locality does not have drinking water supply nor they get proper electricity supply.
The condition of road, lanes and drains require immediate repair and construction. “It seems that none of the Govt departments tasked to take up development activities has come to this locality for years,” said Namrta.
Speaking on the occasion, SC State Coordinator, Bodh Raj Bhagat said that the Schedule Caste community has remained neglected for years and the political parties which ruled J&K have used them as vote bank.
“People have pinned their hopes with the Apni Party and many people are joining the party. We assure that the neglected section of society will be represented without any bias and all the developmental issues will be highlighted for their timely redressal,” said Bhagat.
Earlier, the women who joined Apni Party assured Namrta Sharma that they will work for the upliftment of the society as well as for the Party as a dedicated soldier of Apni Party.
