Jammu: Reacting to inflammatory slogans raised by the Mayor himself during a public function in Jammu on Sunday, the former Minister Yogesh Sawhney termed it as a major threat to democracy.Referring to a video clip, which went viral on social media, wherein Mayor Jammu can be seen raising incendiary slogan ‘Jo Humse Takrayega Seedha Uper Jayega’ during inaugural function of an open gym in a park at Greater Kailash (Ward No 68) in presence of Deputy Mayor, concerned Corporator, BJP workers and locals, Sawhney said that inciting slogans, which were chanted on the occasion, seemed to threaten anyone who goes against BJP and its tyrannic policies.“What is meant by ‘Seedha Uper Jayega’? Isn’t it an open threat of violence publicly given by a people’s representative who currently heads entire city,” asked Sawhney. Demanding registration of FIR against all those involved in the incident for threatening not just opposition parties but people of city, Sawhney said, “Slogan raised by the Mayor, which is not only undemocratic, atrocious and threatening, shows how deep in mud administration really is. The Mayor, as Father of City, is supposed to protect people, but instead he is giving open threats. If people are standing against BJP in various areas of Jammu and protesting, it is because they have not been provided basic rights.”
