President MC Udhampur allows shopkeepers to display goods outside shops



UDHAMPUR: Municipal Council Udhampur (MCU) President took decision in favour of shopkeepers and assured no harassment. Though MCU President gave bit relief to the shopkeepers by allowing them as they can display goods up to one and half feet from their shops’ limit. However while contacted Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Municipality, he said it was personal decision of President and out rightly refused to adhere it.
President MCU Dr Yogeswar Gupta and some councilors after analysing the ground situation of shopkeepers allowed all shopkeepers to display goods outside their shops upto one and half feet. President further warned of strict action against those who will found violating the fixed limit. He said no shopkeepers in any circumstances will be allowed to encroach footpath.
It’s pertinent the mention here Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib after assuming the charge took rounds of the city and passed order to CEO Municipality Udhampur to remove the encroachment by shopkeepers. In this regard an anti encroachment drive was carried out in presence of President MCU and some councilors.
Talking to “State Times” some of the councilors expressed that President MCU didn’t called them to attend meeting and took them in confidence. President on his behalf took the decision without passing any procedural resolution. However while contacted CEO Municipality Udhampur Gandotra said this particular decision been taken by President MCU at its own end. “Municipality will adhere and follow the order and directions of the Deputy Commissioner and as of now we are committed to act as per orders” he said.
