Dear Editor,We, the residents of Greater Kailash are suffering a lot due to non-functional streetlights and potholes. We do not allow our children to come out during evening as there are no streetlights and it is unsafe to move out an streets with crime increasing day by day.Further, huge potholes welcome the commuters here. At the entrance point of Greater Kailash colony there are huge potholes. Commuters meet with accidents during late evening and at night due to these potholes. Accidents of two wheeler drivers is a common affair here, all thanks to the pathetic condition of road. Several complaints have already been made in the past but all fell on deaf ears of concerned authorities. It is surprising that nobody in JMC is bothered about the pathetic condition of this busy road. There are no street-light here and during late evening hours, it is risky to cross this stretch.Residents, especially senior citizens and children, face inconvenience during late evening and night hours due to darkness on the roads.Road without any lighting pose a danger to citizens, especially women and those without any mode of transport. There is vegetable and fruit market in the vicinity and many times women of the area have to come here to buy vegetables but due to pathetic condition of the road and no light, women take each step with a fear lurking in their minds. At most of times, their guiding light is torch of their mobile phones or headlights of vehiclespassing-by.Through your esteemed daily, I would like to request theconcerned authorities to kindly look into the matter and do the needful for welfare of locals.Nitin Sharma,Greater Kailash.
