Poonch athletes imparted training despite rains

POONCH: Despite heavy rains, dedicated and devoted athletes of district Poonch continued with their regular training sessions in the indoor disciplines of Badminton, Table Tennis and Taekwondo at Sports Stadium Complex, here.
While those youngsters were accompanied by their parents to the training centres, seniors decided not to miss the coaching classes.
“Except for Taekwondo there is hardly any qualified coach with us in other two disciplines of Table Tennis and Badminton, so the athletes train on their own. However, a few seniors and veteran players do come for fitness sessions and also to give tips to the youngsters,” informed Manager of the Sports Stadium, Nirdosh Kumar.
Ever increasing number of trainees in Taekwondo guided by the Physical Education Teacher (PET), Rajinder Singh, who takes regular classes at the Indoor Hall.
Taekwondo is followed by the Table Tennis in terms of strength. “The response has been tremendous, especially after successful conduct of the district championship and participation at the J&K level event at Jammu. Since youngsters come in a big number, I also come to play and help trainees in their coaching sessions,” informed General Secretary of the Poonch District Table Tennis Association and veteran player, Saleem Bandey.
