Fake Aadhar, PAN, Passports recovered

JAMMU: Trikuta Nagar police on Monday carried out raids at several localities inhabited by illegally settled Rohingyas to find out various documents like Aadhars, PAN cards and passports managed by them through fraudulent means.Two Rohingyas were arrested on Monday, said police officials, identifying them as Maulvi Abdul Ghafur, son of Abdul Jabbar Moolta, presently staying at Rahim Nagar and Aashiq ur Rehman, presently residing in Bathindi. Fake cards have been recovered from their possession, police said.Soon after their arrest, Trikuta Nagar police has started investigations to unearth the nexus operating to manage fake cards for these Rohingyas.Sources revealed that police has seized some mobile phones also and scrutinising their contacts to dig out the nexus. Information is being gathered about the people who helped them in managing these cards.There are around 20,000 Rohingyas living in Jammu. The government has repeatedly insisted that the Rohingyas are illegal immigrants, even those registered with the UN refugee agency, and would be deported. However, nothing has been done to vacate the lands illegally occupied by them in various localities of Jammu.“We are conducting raids to unearth the nexus,” police said, adding, “few suspects have also been detained for questioning.” An FIR has been registered at Trikuta Nagar police station.
