Plantation drive launched at GPS Ikhani


POUNI: A plantation drive was held at GPS Ikhani in Winter Zone Pouni of District Reasi as a part of Jalshakti Abhiyan under the guidelines of District Administration Reasi and Chief Education Officer Reasi in order to conserve water at the ground level.
Lekh Raj, Tehsildar Pouni was the Chief Guest while Ashok Kumar Naib Tehsildar Ransoo was the Guest of Honour who supervised the plantation drive in which saplings of local plant varieties were planted in the school campus besides placing of tree guards around newly planted saplings.
Tehsildar Pouni while speaking on the occasion lauded the efforts of school management in actively putting up various initiatives to conserve water under Jalshakti Abhiyan especially by organising plantation drives in far-flung vicinity of hilly area of Tehsil Pouni District Reasi.
He appealed to the villagers to conserve rain water this monsoon through various innovations so that underground water level be maintained and used by us in extreme summers.
Earlier, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma Head teacher welcomed the entire team with bouquets and presented the report of activities held under Jalshakti Abhiyan initiative as per the schedule issued by Directorate of School Education Jammu. Others present on the occasion include Sher Mohd Naib Sarpanch Pora Kotla, Ranjit Singh, Kherru Singh, Rashpal Singh, Kamal Singh and Vikram Singh.
