JAMMU: Apni Party on Saturday organised a meeting of senior party leaders and workers here at Gandhi Nagar to review the ongoing election process and political situation in J&K. The Party meeting was organised under the chairmanship of Senior Vice-President and former Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir in which senior party leaders, District Development Council candidates, and workers were also present. During the meeting, the party leaders discussed the ongoing elections of District Development Council (DDC) and emerging political scenario in the region in particular, and in J&K in general.“The response of people in Jammu region was encouraging that the party was able to field candidates in almost all the constituencies of J&K unlike other established political main-steam political parties in spite of being eight-month old party,” Ex-Minister and Apni Party’s Senior Vice-President, Ghulam Hassan Mir, said.Mir said, “We have come with a new vision of development and progress. We expect people to see the new narrative on the political landscape of J&K. The traditional parties have hoodwinked the people for such a long time that is the reason the Apni Party candidates being accepted both in Jammu as well as in Kashmir regions.”He said that “Our core agenda is restoration of statehood to J&K, protection to Govt jobs and land rights in the erstwhile State.” Mir appreciated the Jammu based leadership of the party for their ground work and promised that the party will work for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden section of society. He added that “It is nationalist approach of Apni Party which is attracting people from both the regions of J&K towards the party and in such a short time, post withdrawal of COVID-19 restrictions, the party had been able to reach out to the far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.” “Party’s agenda is being appreciated by the people of J&K,” added Mir. General Secretary and Ex-MLC Vijay Bakaya, General Secretary Vikram Malhotra, Provincial President, Women Wing, Namrta Sharma, State OBC Coordinator Madan Lal Chalotra, State Coordinator Schedule Caste, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Ex-MLA Faqir Nath also spoke on the occasion and they highlighted how they did have reached out to the voters by holding series of public meetings across the region even in far-flung areas.Bakaya commended the hard-work being done by the workers of the party to propagate the message of the party.He informed the Senior Vice President that because of this effort the symbol of the party i.e. the ‘Bat’ had become familiar to people in far-flung villages. Vikram said the people in Jammu have realised that Apni Party has become an alternative. “The DDC polls have exposed failure of BJP of last six years and they nothing to project in-front of people in their election camapigns,” he added. Malhotra also highlighted how the ground campaign has gained support fpr party candidates in many areas. Provincial President, Woman Wing, Namrta Sharma said that women have played an important role in DDC elections and they have supported party candidates in Jammu plains. Namrta emphasised upon the role of women in shaping elections in Jammu and Kashmir. She also highlighted issues being faced by the women candidates contesting in DDC polls.Prominent among those include Shanker Singh Chib, Abhay Bakaya, Gourav Kapoor, Choudhary Yasir Ali, Former Additional Advocate General and Adv Nirmal Kotwal, Saleem Choudhary, Sheetal Singh, Janmeet Singh Bali, Sohan Singh Soni, Tajinder Singh, Raj Kumar Lalotra, Joginder Singh, Vaibhav Mattoo, Dalbir Singh, JP Singh, Vishal Zutshi, Sardeesh Rana, Sanjay Dhar, Vinod Pandita, Ashraf, Gurvinder Singh, Suhail, Farooq Choudhary, Jatinder Singh, Meenu, Pavneet, Rama Anand, Anchal Anand, Parveen Kour, Anu, Sonali, Veena, and Subham.
