AKHNOOR: J&K Pollution Control Board Jammu conducted a public hearing at Panchayat Ghar, Lehar, Panjgrain, Jourian as a part of the environmental clearance process under EIA for Mining of Minor Minerals (River Bed Mining) Project at upstream Jourian bridge, Jadh Khad having an area of 3.89 Ha, Block No 5/27 at village Jadh.
The panel of the public hearing comprised of Gopal Singh, SDM Akhnoor, representative of the District Magistrate Jammu, Dr Yashpaul Salgotra, Sr. Scientist and Head Labs, representative of Regional Director, J&K PCB Jammu, Bharat Bhushan, S.O G&M Department, representative of DMO. Jammu, Arshad Nazir Malik, Divisional Officer, PCB, Jammu North.
The Environmental Management plan prepared for mining of minerals from the aforesaid Block was explained to the general public by the concerned representative of the J&K Project Construction Corporation Ltd.
It was followed by the detailed public discussions and expression of opinions on various aspects of the plan.
A large number of queries were answered on the spot by the project contractor. All the issues raised were patiently heard and recorded in detail.
The entire proceedings were also videographed for onward submission to the appropriate authority i.e State level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA).
The Public Hearing was attended by a large number of people including BDC members, Sarpanchs and Panchs of adjoining Panchayats and prominent citizens and residents of village Jhad and village Panjgrain and officials of Geology and Mining Department and representatives of the contractor.
The Public Hearing concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dimple Sharma, Field Inspector, J&K PCB, Jammu North.
