Opposition candidates also seeking votes in Modi’s name: Dr Jitendra

STATE TIMES NEWS

RAMNAGAR: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said here on Thursday that the opposition candidates have become so desperate that they are also seeking votes in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name.
Dr. Jitendra, who relentlessly continued the District Development Council (DDC) election campaign till the last hour before the final phase time-limit concluded today, was addressing a public meeting at Kaghote near here.
Hitting out at the opposition charge that the BJP candidates were narrating to people the welfare schemes started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, the matter of fact, on the contrary, is that the opposition candidates, whether they be from Congress or National Conference or Panthers Party or even Independent, are telling the voters that they are themselves also Modi’s supporters and Modi’s followers.
It is now for the voter to decide whether he has to vote for the officially nominated candidate of Modi’s party namely the BJP or the self-styled candidate.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-poor and welfare schemes, said Dr. Jitendra, have reached every needy household and deprived family without any discrimination of religion or cast and without any consideration of vote bank.
Dr. Singh recalled that before 2014 even the road to the main city of Ramnagar was not upgraded and the BRO bridge has also been made functional only two years back.
Today, there is a network of roads connecting the villages and new road projects under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have been undertaken to connect even those villages which are yet to be connected, he said.
Even the main town of Ramnagar, said Dr. Jitendra, did not have a sports facility and only in the last four years, a full-fledged sports stadium for youth has been brought up with the Central funds.
He said, those who are questioning the development work done by the Modi government, neither have the capacity nor the resources to address the demands of people.
The very purpose of conducting the DDC election, said Dr. Jitendra, is that local body representatives get empowered enough to decide the priorities at Panchayat, Block and District level, and accordingly make the plans.
This arrangement will become optimally successful when we have the same party representatives from Block, District, Assembly to Parliament level, he added.
