Jindrah: The eight-day-long winter special NSS camp organised at Government Degree College, Jindrah concluded on Monday with a colorful valedictory function.
The camp was started on February 15. Various activities were held during the camp to highlight the role played by NSS volunteers in the nation building.
During the valedictory function, SDPO, Nagrota Parupkar Singh was the chief guest who highlighted the role of NSS in developing student’s personality through community service. He asked the NSS unit of the college to organize more such camps and extended full support to the students for holding future camps. He also invited NSS volunteers to visit Police Station Jhajjar Kotli to understand as to how the police work.
The Guest of Honour in the function was All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) president, Anil Sharma who appreciated the role of NSS volunteers for conducting special cleanliness drive at Devika in the village. He handed over an appreciation letter to NSS unit and gave away notebooks and pens to NSS volunteers.
Professor Rajshree Dhar, the Principal of GDC Jindrah also addrssed the gathering and appreciated the NSS unit for holding a successful camp. The Programme Officer, Dr Sunil Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr Deepka Sharma. In her address, she spoke about the role of NSS in improving literacy, health and hygiene, social awareness among the people of remote areas of the region.
The programme report was read by Assistant Professor Poonam Renu. The stage was managed by students of the college Pallavi Sharma and Diler Singh. On the occasion, Sarpanch Anil Sharma also donated Rs. 1100 to the NSS volunteers. A vote of thanks was presented by Dr Seema Lalotra.
Earlier students of the college presented colorful cultural items. Noted personality of the village former Master Chander Moli also recited poems on the occasion.
