SRINAGAR: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Awantipora, booked a notorious drug peddler under Public Safety Act (PSA).
Officers in Awantipora had earlier seized huge quantity of contraband substance from possession of a notorious drug peddler, Firdous Ahmad Mir alias Fira Codeine, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, resident of Kadlabal Pampore and a case vide FIR No. 98/2020 was registered at Police Station Pampore. Accordingly, the arrested drug peddler was detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining sanctions from concerned authorities. It is pertinent to mention here that he is 8th person who has been booked under Public Safety Act for drug peddling in District Awantipora. Besides, 109 persons have been arrested in drug related cases during year 2020 and 55 FIRs have been registered at various Police Stations of District Awantipora.
