AWANTIPORA: Acting tough against drug dealings, Police in Awantipora arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substances & cash from his possession.
As per details, acting on a credible input, officers at a checkpoint established near Kadlabal Pampore, intercepted a notorious drug peddler, who was identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir alias Codeine, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, resident of Kadlabal Pampore. During search, 20 gm Heroin like substance, 25 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and cash amounting to Rs 22,000 were recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot and shifted to Police Station where he remained under custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 98/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Police has urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, as persons found indulged in drug peddling will be dealt sternly.
