Northern Club Jammu enters semi-finals

AKHNOOR: Akash’s all-round performance helped Northern Cricket Club Jammu to enter the semi-finals of the ongoing Shaheed Lt Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament being organised by Akhnoor Sports Club under the overall supervision S.S Langeh, General Secretary District Jammu JKCA at Government Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, on Friday.
Earlier, Northern Cricket Club beat Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Cricket Club by two wickets.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Cricket Club scored 164 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Ankush was the top scorer with 96 runs off 59 balls followed by Akshay and Satinder, who contributed 26 and 15 runs respectively.
For Northern Cricket Club, Ajay grabbed three wickets while Sachin claimed two and Akash and Ankush took one wicket each.
In reply, Northern Cricket Club chased the target making 165 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 18.2 overs. Sanjeev played a fine unbeaten knock of 52 runs but all in vain as the team lost the match by 23 runs. Akash played a fine inning of 57 runs off 31 balls while Lakhan and Sumit added 38 and 28 runs respectively to the total.
For Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Club, Taneez scalped three wickets while Satinder, Vishal, Vansh and Rishav grabbed one wicket each.
For his all-round display, Akash was declared as Man of the Match.
Today’s match was officiated by Dayal Singh and Vikas Bali as umpires and Rohit and Arjun as scorers.
Advocate Vishnu Kant Sharma (Chairman Shaheed Lt. Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament) was the Chief Guest in today’s match who gave away Man of the Match award.
