JAMMU: Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show, ‘Young Voices of Theatre’ featured National School of Drama alumni, theatre, film & TV actor, director, daughter of the soil, Neelu Dogra on Friday who shared her stimulating thoughts with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu.Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that this unique effort of Natrang has facilitated a collaborative dialogue amongst the new generation of theatre practitioners who, through this talk show, get to know each other’s inspirational ideas and enhance their repository with new creative insight. He complimented all the brilliant speakers and stated that they all are contributing towards a bigger cause of theatre by sharing their precious thoughts with people who may drive immense inspiration and learning from it.Born and brought up in the beautiful valley of Jammu, Neelu completed her Diploma in Acting from the National School of Drama, New Delhi in the year 1999. In an interesting conversation with Natrang’s senior artist Neeraj Kant, Neelu narrated her eventful journey of theatre. She fondly remembered her formative years of theatre spent meaningfully at Natrang. Moreover, she got tremendous support from her parents to pursue theatre as a career. Having done a lot of motivational theatre, Neelu believes that when it comes to changing the mindset of people, theatre is the most powerful medium. She also shared memories of doing Dogri film ‘Bobo Kadun Aaog’ with Ved Rahi ji. Having already done a good volume of impactful theatre before getting academically trained, Neelu became the First girl from J&K to make it to NSD.She also worked in NSD Repertoire Company as an actor for one year. Having resided in different cities like Mumbai, Gurugram, Bangluru, Singapore etc., she continued her passion of theatre wherever she lived.Answering questions from the participants, Neelu asserted that there is no difference between theatre & film acting, though technicality is different.In theatre, one gets a chance to attain perfection through rehearsals but once on stage, there is no scope for retake, but in camera, one gets retakes.Speaking about acting, she suggests that observation is the key to relevant acting as you get different characters surrounded around you. To the new entrants in the field, she advises that prepare yourself thoroughly as there is no short cut here. Moreover hard work has no substitute.
