No images of religious values to be affixed on outer walls of property: JMC

JAMMU: According to a resolution passed by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), no image/ photo/ tile of God, Goddess or any other deity that tantamount to desecration of faith and religious values, shall be placed on the outer walls of public or private property, lanes or by-lanes to prevent people to throw garbage. Any person finding these images/ photos, tiles fixed on such places should immediately bring it to notice of JMC authorities.
The resolution, moved by Corporator of Ward No 3, Narrotam Sharma in General House Meeting of JMC held on November 28, 2020 read, “Installing or fixing images/tiles of deities, Gods and Goddesses or other religious symbols tantamount to desecration of our faith and religious values that give us identity and infuse a sense of Dharma in us. It is a pity Jammu City which is known as ‘City of Temples’ is witnessing denigration and desecration of deities/Gods by people in such a manner that is unacceptable. As such there should be a clear law or provision to stop the practice immediately to denigrate our religion and culture and send a strong message among masses to uphold our religious heritage.” The resolution, moved by Narrotam Sharma, was adopted unanimously by the Full House.
