JAMMU: Chairman Public Health Sanitation Committee Jammu Municipal Corporation Narinder Singh said that he will not allow any compromise on the issues of health, hygiene and sanitation.Jamwal said this during a surprise inspection of Ward No. 26. Looking into the dismal condition of the ward, the Chairman Sanitation Committee JMC gave on spot instructions to the concerned Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary Supervisor to take necessary measures in improving the cleanliness in the area besides ensuring that the poor sanitation conditions do not reoccur as the same can prove dangerous especially on account of ensuing summer months when the probability of disease spread is maximum.Corporator Hardeep Singh Mankotia also accompanied the Chairman. Narinder Singh made it clear that onus of health, hygiene and cleanliness of the areas falling under municipal limits lies on JMC and those found lethargic in accomplishing their assigned jobs will be taken to task. He said that JMC today holds significant responsibility in making Jammu a Smart City and therefore negligence of any sort will not be tolerated at any level. Expressing concern over poor sanitation in the ward, Jamwal said that accountability is the keyword for working of this organisation and therefore it is time for all the stakeholders to gird up their loins to work with extreme sincerity following professional ethics at all times.Later, Jamwal also visited Ward No. 25 and took serious note of the illegal dairy being run there. He appealed to the people to adhere to new norms as such aberrations cause inconvenience to general masses and become source of nuisance for all.Taking a hard stance against the illegal act, he directed the concerned officials to take appropriate action against the dairy owner for this misdemeanor putting the entire area into deep trouble. Health Officer JMC Dr. Sanjogita Soodan and Chief Transport Officer Harvinder Singh also accompanied the Chairman JMC’s Public Health Sanitation Committee.
