Mushrooms are super food, great immunity boosters: VC SKUAST-J



JAMMU: Mushroom Day was celebrated with fervour and zeal in the Mushroom Research and Training Centre, Division of Plant Pathology, SKUAST-J, here on Saturday.
The programme was attended by faculty, entrepreneurs and students of the university.
Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J, who was the chief guest, stressed upon the importance of skill development among students and entrepreneurs so that they could become job providers rather than job seekers.
He advised to organize mushroom awareness camps so that the common masses could be made aware of the benefits of mushrooms as super food and immunity boosters particularly during COVID times.
He appreciated the efforts made by staff of mushroom unit for popularizing mushroom cultivation.
Prof. D.P. Abrol, Dean FoA, who was the Guest of Honour, highlighted the achievements of Mushroom unit of the university.
On this occasion an interaction session was also organized in which Rishbha Raina delivered a special talk on nutritional and medicinal benefits of mushrooms.
Dr. Sachin Gupta, Associate Professor and Incharge Mushroom Unit conducted the proceedings of the programme. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Ranbir Singh.
