JAMMU: A meeting was convened by Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 (MJR47) on Thursday to discuss present political scenario and the All Party Meet convened by the Prime Minister.Speaking on the occasion, the members of MJR47 said that All Party Meet convened at Delhi seems to be incomplete and meaningless in absence of all stakeholders of Kashmir issue. PoJK 1947 DPs, who are living as refugees in their own country are still without any settlement, both financial as well as political. This is despite repeated representations to Government, both in person through various meetings, media, as well as despite clear recommendation by Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs, Government of India. The members further said, “Every political party invited to the meeting at Delhi has its own agenda and will uphold party lines. But, what about more than 14 Lakh PoJK 1947 DPs who are first party to Kashmir issue and the most aggrieved still living in refugee camps even after seven decades where they were temporarily sheltered in 1950,” they said, adding that major demand of MJR47 for DPs of 1947 is release of 24 seats for PoJK displaced persons.MJR47 demanded that 24 seats, so far kept frozen, be opened up for representation by DPs, the original residents of PoJK area. The organization appealed to all parties not to go against spirit of the constitution and give due political/ fundamental rights to 14 lakh DPs of 1947 living in J&K and outside, to elect their own representatives and participate in political law making bodies besides working for welfare of J&K and its people.
