JAMMU: The J&K AIDS Control Society, the body running the awareness programmes about dreaded disease of AIDS and taking care of affected persons, announced the launch of the an event on HIV/AIDS & Other Health Issues, an inter college/university quiz competition.
The first competition of the series was held on December 28, 2020 at the District level where almost 100 students from over 50 institutes participated in the quiz followed by the Divisional Level Quiz on December 30, 2020.Organised under the aegis of J&K Aids Control Society, the objective of the event was to spread awareness on various health issues in general and HIV/AIDS in particular.
The final round of the online Quiz Competition was held on January 1, 2021 at the UT level in which Dr Nazia and Dr Ruvaida, the Post Graduate (MD) students of the Department of Microbiology, representing the Government Medical College(GMC), Jammu emerged as the overall winners. Principal-cum-Dean of the Government Medical College Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudan, who is also head of the Department of Microbiology, congratulated both the MD students and said that both the PG students have made the Department of Microbiology proud and brought laurels for the institution also.She further said that the quiz competition brought enthusiasm among the students as well as created mass awareness and thus congratulated the AIDS Control Society for their initiative.
